Layout Issues
With the wiki, most content can be changed remotely. Things that can't be changed remotely are:
The main list of Contents. On xafs.org, this is currently: XAFS, Community, Tutorials, Workshops, Beamlines, Software, Databases, Help, Recent Changes, and Find Page. It's convenient to have these links be short words. One possible approach could be XAFS, Theory/Analysis, Experimental, Applications, RelatedTechniques, Education, Community, Software, Help
The look and feel (theme) of the wiki. It's possible to allow logged in users to select from multiple themes. Right now, xafs.org allows 6. I think this is probably a bad idea, and that we should pick one and stick with it. I like the default one (called 'xafs') with contents running down the left-hand-side, but would like to make a few changes to it, to make it look like a fairly normal web page to someone who is not logged in.
- the search and login buttons are in the upper right corner.
- edit, attachments, and 'action' links only appear for logged in users (as is the current case, and is consistent with not generally allowing anonymous editing of the pages. The 'Edit Page' links will show up for logged-in users in the lower left.
- move the "Moin / HTML4 / Python links" to the bottom of the page.
- The logo and color scheme. I have no concepts for the logo, though I'm pretty happy with the blue chi as the icon, and am willing to stick with this blue-ish color scheme.
