Information about the X23A2 Firewall

The beamline subnet is now behind a firewall. There is currently no way to tunnel through the fire wall from the outside world. This allows us to operate computers and other network devices in a very promiscuous mode. For instance, we can use unsecured ftp to communicate between computers on the subnet. The firewall also protects the Compumotor 6k8's from the outside world.

DHCP on the beamline subnet

Just plug your laptop into one of the ethernet switches and set your computer to use DHCP. This will allow you to access files on the beamline computer directly. For all other networking purposes, please use the wireless network.
